With a former Ohio Appellate Judge in-house, Isaac Wiles has some of the most experienced mediators in the State of Ohio.  Our litigation group is skilled at employing alternative dispute resolution methods with an impressive track record of settling disputes via arbitration and mediation. In fact, our litigators routinely serve as appoointed mediators in the federal and state court systems. 

Our seasoned litigators also support dispute resolution as part of our family law practice and have successfully settled domestic matters in lieu of expensive and drawn out court proceedings.

Our litigation group has developed an enhanced expertise in both defending and prosecuting construction cases, especially those involving disputes over defective work in the commercial and residential sector.   A spectrum of issues requiring an attention to detail and precise focus make this a highly specialized practice—everything from water intrusion and building envelope design issues, to catastrophic losses involving storms, workplace accidents and wrongful death.  Isaac Wiles construction litigators work closely with developers, general contractors, and insurers, as well as an array of other professionals such as architects, engineers, accountants, and risk managers, to efficiently and timely maximize results favorable to our clients.

Our litigation group has tried numerous cases in all courts and has similar experience arbitrating employment matters. Because of our strong leadership and the structure of our practice group, we can manage multiple cases efficiently and effectively.

Our firm has handled approximately 2,040 cases successfully representing numerous political subdivisions and their public officials in various lawsuits, such as Section 1983 litigation, juvenile and adult corrections, police use of force, state and federal malicious prosecution, Fourth Amendment issues, Fifth Amendment issues, school funding, the Public Records Act, state and federal challenges to income tax code, personal injury, automobile accidents, property damage, defamation, wrongful death, and other state torts.

These lawsuits include both claims in the public officials and individual capacities.  Whether these complex cases are successfully dismissed or go to verdict, our litigators have decades of bench trial and jury trial experience. We also have successfully defended appeals to and in the United States Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, State Courts of Appeals throughout Ohio, and the Supreme Court of Ohio.
