about Michael Loughry
Born and bred an ardent Texas Longhorn fan, and music industry professional turned lawyer, Michael Loughry believes a collaborative relationship is an integral part of achieving success on behalf of his clients. Knowing the legal system can be daunting and clients don’t like surprises, Mike dedicates himself to ensuring clients understand the full scope of the process at the outstart and their role within it.
Always a steady hand on the wheel and known to do things right, Mike is focused on representing political subdivisions throughout the state of Ohio in both state and federal courts. He has significant experience defending law enforcement officers and agencies in excessive force, false arrest and other misconduct claims. He has represented numerous municipalities against claims that they had taken property without providing just compensation and in other land use matters. Mike also serves as outside personal injury defense counsel for several Regional Transit Authorities.
Included in his work with political subdivisions has been a significant emphasis on school districts, where Mike has represented various districts and educational service centers in employment, civil rights, and general tort liability matters. Mike represents professionals in a wide range of disciplines in professional liability claims and in administrative enforcement actions brought by state regulatory boards. He
also defends employers in employment discrimination claims in both administrative agency investigations and litigation.
Serving the public and legal community through participation in bar association certified grievance committees, Mike currently serves on the Ohio State Bar Association Certified Grievance Committee, and previously served on the Columbus Bar Association’s Certified Grievance Committee, including two years as Chair of the committee.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mike worked as a geophysical technician for an Ohio based oil and gas company, and in various aspects of the music business in Texas. Besides cheering on the Texas Longhorns, Mike is also a craft beer enthusiast and enjoys traveling when he’s not in the office.
