COLUMBUS, OHIO (January 13, 2023) – Isaac Wiles, a full-service law firm serving clients in Columbus and throughout Ohio, is pleased to announce the promotion of two attorneys to partner effective Jan. 1, 2023.
The new partners are Philip Stovall, who focuses his practice on bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights, and Matthew Rinear, a family law and civil litigation attorney.
“Our new partners exemplify Isaac Wiles’s commitment to provide the very best counsel and value to our clients every day,” said Brian Zets, Managing Partner of Isaac Wiles. “Philip and Matthew are outstanding individuals and attorneys who will make significant contributions to our partnership over the coming years.”
Stovall is a member of Isaac Wiles’ business group and focuses his practice on debtor/creditor issues, commercial and bankruptcy litigation, insolvency, workouts, and tax controversies. He commonly represents debtors, creditors, and other parties in interest in commercial bankruptcy cases and in complex litigation in state and federal courts. He also advises clients with respect to out-of-court insolvency matters, including out-of-court restructuring and workouts, and in matters involving the IRS and other taxing authorities.
Prior to entering private practice, Stovall served for four years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable C. Kathryn Preston of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. In 2021, Stovall was named to the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ Next Generation Program, and he currently serves as the co-chair of the Chapter 11 Subcommittee of the Bankruptcy Court’s Attorney Advisory Committee.
Stovall received a law degree from the University of Toledo, College of Law, where he graduated cum laude, and his undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business.
Rinear’s primary practice area is domestic relations. He understands that going through a divorce or a custody issue is an intimidating and stressful process, and believes his job is not only about drafting documents and showing up to court proceedings, but also about guiding each client through his or her unique situation by explaining the process and setting expectations. Rinear also practices in the area of general civil litigation, and has recently received positive jury verdicts in a wide variety of cases, including contract and employment, defamation, and real property disputes.
Rinear received his law degree from Capital University Law School and an undergraduate degree from Ohio University with a focus in live television production and creative writing. He also completed an internship with Fox Sports Ohio producing Cincinnati Reds baseball games, providing him with a unique skill set of both pragmatic and artistic creativity, allowing him to imaginatively approach complex issues and reach solutions that effectively address the individual issues posed by each family law and civil litigation matter.
