COLUMBUS, OHIO (June 1, 2022) – Isaac Wiles, a full-service law firm serving clients in Columbus and throughout Ohio, has elected Brian M. Zets as its new managing partner, effective today. He succeeds Mark Landes, who has been managing partner since 2018.
Zets combines numerous passions and legal talents into his work at Isaac Wiles. He chairs the firm’s Automotive/Motorsport Practice Group, drawing from his personal and professional interest in classic muscle and collector cars, the NHRA, and companies that supply aftermarket high-performance parts. In the public sector, Zets chairs the firm’s Public Law Group and serves as law director for the City of Pataskala, is legal advisor for two townships, works as solicitor for eight villages, and has been retained as special counsel by numerous political subdivisions.
“As we contemplated who would be the best next leader of Isaac Wiles, it became clear to everyone that Brian was the ideal choice,” said Landes, who will remain a partner at the firm. “As Brian has demonstrated to his clients over the years, he is a consummate legal counsel and professional who understands what it takes to run a successful firm such as ours.”
“I am humbled and honored to lead Isaac Wiles and to plan build upon the many accomplishments of my predecessor managing partners Mark Landes and Mike Close,” said Zets. “Isaac Wiles is a great firm with exceptional hardworking partners, associates, and staff. My goal is to help the firm continue to grow, provide our clients with the best legal advice, and be a great place to work.”
Zets added, “I am excited about the future of the firm and my time as managing partner.”
Zets received his undergraduate degree in political science from The Ohio State University in 1993, and his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1996. He joined Wiles Boyle in 2007, which later became the Isaac Wiles firm, and is currently a member of the firm’s management, lateral hiring, and marketing committees. In his practice, Zets has skillfully handled, and is a frequent lecturer on, legal matters in the areas of municipal contracts, water and sanitary sewer agreements, zoning and land use, annexation, eminent domain, public meetings and public records law, administrative appeals, Mayor’s Court and municipal court prosecution, police liability, as well as Section 1983 and state tort litigation. He also has tried numerous state and federal bench and jury trials and has appeared before several administrative agencies, including the PUCO, the Board of Tax Appeals and the Board of Revisions. He has argued numerous appeals before the Tenth District and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Ohio Supreme Court.
