Phil Stovall is an associate in Isaac Wiles' business group and focuses his practice on debtor/creditor issues, commercial and bankruptcy litigation, insolvency, workouts, and tax controversies.
Prior to entering private practice, Phil served for four years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable C. Kathryn Preston of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. During his clerkship, Phil researched, briefed, and drafted orders and opinions for numerous contested matters and adversary proceedings pending before the Court, including several class action proceedings.
Phil received his juris doctor from the University of Toledo, College of Law, where he graduated cum laude. Throughout law school, Phil focused his coursework on bankruptcy, tax, and complex business matters. Phil also served as a research assistant to his bankruptcy law professor, and was recognized for earning the highest score in his criminal procedure course, his estate and gift tax course, and his mergers and acquisitions course. Phil received his undergraduate degree from the The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business.
Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with friends and family and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
