Columbus, Ohio, July 31, 2017 – Isaac Wiles announces the addition of David M. Whittaker as partner in the firm’s Creditors’ Rights practice. Whittaker brings more than 37 years of experience in representing insolvent and struggling businesses in restructuring and liquidations. He joins Isaac Wiles from Bricker & Eckler LLP, where he was partner in the Columbus office for nearly 12 years.

Whittaker litigates complex bankruptcy matters, and he counsels commercial debtors in Chapter 11 reorganizations and creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 cases. Notably, he served as a Chapter 11 trustee in a complex retail liquidation and as the examiner in a Chapter 11 case involving a sophisticated Ponzi scheme. Whittaker has been a member of the Panel of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees in Columbus since May of 1983 and has served as the Trustee in numerous business bankruptcy cases and countless numbers of consumer bankruptcy cases.
As a unique part of his practice, Whittaker’s experience advising troubled businesses allows him to successfully help a variety of startup and established businesses in managing growth and planning issues.
He is also a certified mediator and has received training from the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) and the St. John’s University Law School Mediation program.
Whittaker is a member of the Columbus Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association and a former member of the Bankruptcy Rules Committee for the Southern District of Ohio.
